Preah Vihear Province is famous for its ancient temples, particularly Preah Vihear Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on the border between Cambodia and Thailand. This temple, built during the reign of the Khmer Empire, sits atop a 525-meter cliff in the Dângrêk Mountains and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Here are some notable attractions in Preah Vihear Province:


1. Preah Vihear Temple: This stunning temple is known for its intricate carvings and unique architecture. The temple's position on the mountain allows visitors to experience incredible views while exploring its historical and spiritual significance.



2. Koh Ker Temple Complex: Located around 120 kilometers from Preah Vihear Temple, Koh Ker was briefly the capital of the Khmer Empire in the 10th century. The complex includes the iconic Prasat Thom pyramid, which stands at 36 meters tall.


3. Beng Mealea: Although officially located in Siem Reap Province, Beng Mealea is close to Preah Vihear and is often included in tours of the area. This "jungle temple" is overgrown with trees and vines, giving it a mysterious atmosphere.


4. Kulen Promtep Wildlife Sanctuary: This is one of Cambodia's largest protected areas and is home to diverse wildlife, including rare species of birds, mammals, and plants.


5. Choam Khsant: This rural district offers a glimpse into local life and culture, with traditional Cambodian houses, local markets, and agricultural landscapes. Preah Vihear Province is not only a site for exploring ancient Khmer architecture but also a place to appreciate Cambodia’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
