Day 1: Arrival in Phnom Penh – Transfer to Kep
Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, you’ll be picked up and transferred to Kep, a charming coastal destination known for its laid-back atmosphere, fresh seafood, and stunning ocean views. Kep is not just a tourist haven but also home to a thriving local community that thrives on sustainable tourism and eco-friendly practices.
Explore Kep National Park for hiking, a peaceful escape amidst nature, and take in the breathtaking views of the Gulf of Thailand. Enjoy a visit to the Crab Market, where you can sample fresh local seafood and interact with local fishermen and vendors who rely on the ocean for their livelihoods. Supporting this market helps empower the local community and their sustainable fishing practices. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 2: Visit Koh Thonsáy (Rabbit Island)
Today, embark on a boat trip to Koh Thonsáy (Rabbit Island), just 4 km south of Kep. This small island in the Gulf of Thailand is famous for its white sand beaches, shallow waters, and vibrant coral reefs. Not only is it an ideal spot for relaxation and exploration, but it also serves as an important site for ecological research.
Koh Thonsáy once served as a rehabilitation center during the 1950s and 60s but now hosts locally-run guesthouses, allowing you to stay with local families and experience authentic island life. By staying on the island, you’re supporting the island’s small-scale hospitality sector, which fosters local economic growth. Take a moment to appreciate the island’s natural beauty, and consider a visit to the nearby mangroves, where you can learn about the ecosystem and how local fishermen sustainably harvest resources. After exploring, return to Kep for a relaxing evening. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 3: Kep – Sihanoukville (Free Leisure or Visit Local Beach)
Enjoy a relaxing day in Sihanoukville, where you can choose between two beautiful beaches that cater to different needs and offer different ways to support local businesses: Ochheuteal Beach – This popular beach offers a lively atmosphere with a variety of beachfront restaurants and activities. Try local seafood dishes and enjoy water sports like jet skiing, banana boat rides, and parasailing. Many local businesses operate along this beach, and by supporting them, you're contributing to the local economy.
Ream Beach – For those who prefer a quieter, more natural escape, head to Ream Beach, located within Ream National Park. The park is home to mangroves, wildlife, and pristine coastlines that have been preserved for eco-tourism. Explore the untouched environment, and consider taking a guided tour by local eco-guides to learn about sustainable practices and conservation efforts in the region.
Both beaches offer an opportunity to directly interact with local communities and support eco-friendly tourism. Enjoy your day with a relaxed pace and return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Sihanoukville – Visit to Koh Rong or Koh Rong Samloem
Today, you have the option to take a boat trip to one of Cambodia’s most famous islands, Koh Rong or Koh Rong Samloem.
Option 1: Koh Rong – Known for its vibrant party scene, Koh Rong is also home to quieter spots where you can find eco-friendly resorts and locally-owned businesses. Enjoy the natural beauty of the island while supporting sustainable practices. A 45-minute ferry ride will take you from Serendipity Beach in Sihanoukville to the island, where you can enjoy the white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters.
Option 2: Koh Rong Samloem – If you’re looking for a more serene and peaceful experience, Koh Rong Samloem is a great option. This smaller island offers beautiful accommodations like eco-lodges and bungalows run by local families. It’s an excellent destination for both relaxation and eco-conscious travelers.
Both islands offer ample opportunities to support local businesses, such as restaurants, accommodation providers, and tour guides who prioritize sustainability. The islands are committed to eco-tourism, which helps protect their pristine environments while supporting local communities. Return to Sihanoukville in the evening and relax overnight at your hotel.
Day 5: Sihanoukville–Transfer back to Phnom Penh or Continue to Siem Reap
In the morning, you will be transferred back to Phnom Penh, or if you prefer, you can continue your journey to Siem Reap. If you are continuing your trip to Siem Reap, consider learning about the cultural and environmental significance of Cambodia’s ancient temples. We are happy to adjust your itinerary to better suit your travel preferences.

Support Local Artisans: Visit local markets and artisan shops, where you can buy handicrafts, textiles, and souvenirs that are made by local artisans. This helps to preserve Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage and boosts the livelihoods of local craftspeople.
Eco-Tourism Activities: Consider engaging in eco-tourism activities that promote conservation, such as guided tours in nature reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, and mangrove restoration projects. Responsible Seafood Choices: When visiting seafood markets and restaurants, choose sustainably sourced seafood to support responsible fishing practices and reduce overfishing.
This itinerary provides a chance to explore Cambodia's beautiful coastal regions while consciously supporting local communities, protecting the environment, and promoting sustainable tourism. By following this plan, travelers not only experience the beauty of Cambodia but also contribute to its sustainable growth and preservation.
